cPanel: Uninstall CloudLinux

It is not hard to install CloudLinux, but you will found more step to uninstall it.

Before you convert CloudLinux back to normal Centos, you shall check if your box come with CloudLinux,
/usr/local/cpanel/bin/cloudlinux_system_install -c

1. Update CentOS RPMs.
yum upgrade -y
2. Rebuild Apache
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/easyapache –build
3. Reinstall a non-CloudLinux kernel.
yum –disableexcludes=all install kernel
4. Remove the CloudLinux-provided kernel.

Install Java JRE on CentOS

Java is one of the Open Source language that widely used by the programmer.

In short, you may install JRE or JDK to allow your server to work with Java where JRE use to be able to run the application and JDK use to allow you to compile the source code and running the application.

To get this done, understand the installation page of JRE from URL below,
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre-6u26-download-400751.html

Download the 32-bits or 64-bits according to your server. In this case, I will use 64 -bits as example,

1. Download the file,

wget http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre-6u26-download-400751.html

2.Install it,

sh ./jre-6u26-linux-x64-rpm.bin

3. To check which version of java install,
root@server[~]# java -version

4. To check where the java installed,
root@server[~]# which java

Install pico and set as default editor through CentOS

I could see many people around me are using pico instead of other editor like vim which come with centos.

As you know, pico is not come together with centos and you may refer to this article and apply to your server.
yum install nano
cd /usr/bin/
ln -s nano pico
export EDITOR=”pico”

Now, try to pico and you will be able to use it.

Install pdo_MySQL manually from CentOS

As you know, MGe is missing for sometimes for iOS and Android. 🙂

Today, MGe wish to share on how to install pdo_mysql from CentOS manually.

1. Basically, you will need to compile pear and mysql from your Apache. Run the command as below to get it updated.

yum install php-devel php-pear mysql-devel httpd-devel
pecl install pdo
PHP_PDO_SHARED=1 pecl install pdo_mysql

2. Open your php.ini file and insert the line as below.

extension=pdo.so
extension=pdo_mysql.so

3. Restart the Apache services.

Change your Network IP with CentOS

For some purpose, you might want to change the Network IP from your CentOS server such as switching the data center, etc.

To done this, just simply check your main network interface with typing ifconfig from the server.Then get the network interface name.

Next, edit the file from
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-<interface-name>

You shall see the following setting.
# Intel Corporation 80003ES2LAN Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Copper)
DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
BROADCAST=127.0.0.255
HWADDR=00:e0:81:c0:b1:ae
IPADDR=127.0.0.100
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=127.0.0.0
ONBOOT=yes
GATEWAY=127.0.0.1
TYPE=Ethernet

Change the IPADDR to the new server IP.

Note: You might need to change the Broadcast, Netmask, Network or Gateway with the need.
