Run ASP.Net with cPanel

Nothing is impossible for Unix and many of the users do not know how to run ASP.Net framework from cPanel.

With this article, I will teach you how to enable ASP.Net Framework from cPanel, but before that, you must be the server owner/administrator for the server that tried to install this and have/have not setup the server.

To run ASP.Net(.aspx) from Apache, you may install third party component to support the ASP.Net. cPanel included a feature called EasyApache and EasyApache allow user to install third party component named mod_mono and mono project that make the possible for ASP.Net run in Apache.

For more information for the support component from the Microsoft .Net Framework, please refer to the mono default web page, Mono Project.

To run EasyApache, run the following script from root by using shell will do.
# /scripts/easyapache

Faster PHP in IIS

Did you know Microsoft and PHP have came out faster PHP with IIS named wincache(Windows Cache Extension) last week?

This means that you will no longer see PHP process keep used up your memory if you are using IIS Web Services anymore.

How to get wincache? It is very easy, make sure that you have PHP5.2 or PHP5.3 installed with your machine. Even you may install Microsoft Web Platform Installer from your Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 machine to install it.

You might ask what is the advantage with WinCache extension? IIS (Internet Information System) have listed Wincache could increase the PHP performance on Windows by caching bytecode in memory, reduce file system I/O used in memory, etc.

DotNetPanel Generic Error

You might got Generic Error from anywhere from DotnetPanel.

To overcome the issue, it is very easy(although I have spent for hours and can’t get any result) for you to get this result.

1. Log into the DotNetPanel portal server.
2. Look for the services or run services.msc.
3. Restart the WMI(Windows Management Instrumentation) services.

Issue fixed.

Enable error_log from IIS PHP

To enable error_log from IIS, it is not hard, but you have to consider the size of log might not easy to manage by Windows Operating System, unless you have installed the Resource tools kit to allow you to tail the log.

Alternatively, you may alway disable this feature but to enable when you needed.

Step to get it done.

1. Browse to the PHP directory that installed for PHP.(Usually go to C:\Program Files\PHP\, but this tutorial will teach you on simple directory of C:\php\)

Remove Grub from your Box

I just faced this problem a moment ago, I have removed my Linux Operating System(Ubuntu) from my partition where I applied dual boot Operating System previously.

Somehow, I were removed the partition through disk management from Windows Vista and the error as below found once rebooted the box.

If you get the same error and could like to removed Grub. Use the step as below.

How to reset Wordpress 2.8.x Password?

If you have WordPress 2.8.x and you have forgotten your administrator password, lost your password or whatever, you may refer to this article to reset your password.

With this article, I assume that you are familiar with MySQL/PHPMyAdmin.

1. Log into the PHPMyAdmin.
2. Browse to to wp_users table.
3. Edit the user that you could like to modify the password.
4. Change the user_pass field to below text from the value. (Include the last dot)

$P$BCZRE5gAF/noSePSFjhE7VSgfPZxUn.

5. Select on Go button.
6. You will be able to login use the mentioned user username with the password of “password” without double quotes.
7. Log into your WordPress, change your password to your preferrable password immediately.
